Contractor-side structural design coordination across all primary building elements. We manage the interface between structural engineering design and construction delivery — keeping information, programme and build aligned.

Elements We Coordinate

Primary structural design support

Structural Steel

Steel frame design support, connection detailing review, fabrication drawing coordination and contractor-side structural steel management for commercial and industrial buildings.

Reinforced Concrete Frame

In-situ and precast concrete frame design coordination. Reinforcement detailing review, construction joint coordination and concrete pour sequencing.

Groundworks

Foundation design review, piling coordination, ground beam layout and below-ground structure coordination in the context of the wider project programme.

Retaining Structures

Retaining wall design support — cantilever, propped and anchored walls. Coordination with temporary works where retained excavation is involved during construction.

Building Envelope

Envelope design coordination covering cladding systems, curtain wall, rainscreen, roofing and interfaces between structural frame and external enclosure.

Alterations to Existing Structures

Structural support for refurbishment and conversion schemes — opening formation, load redistribution, underpinning and strengthening design coordination.

Common Questions

Structural elements explained

We provide contractor-side design support for structural building elements — coordinating structural steel, concrete frame, groundworks, retaining structures and building envelope. Our role is typically to manage the interface between the structural engineer's design and construction delivery: reviewing drawings, raising RFIs, managing information release and coordinating structural information within the wider project model.

No. We provide design management and coordination support, not structural engineering calculations. Where structural calculations are required, we coordinate with and manage the appointed structural engineer. We review and manage the output of structural engineering design in the context of the construction programme and contractor coordination.

Yes. On design-and-build contracts, structural steel typically involves the contractor's structural engineer designing the steelwork against the Employer's Requirements, with a steelwork contractor producing fabrication drawings. We manage the interfaces — reviewing the design against requirements, coordinating the fabrication drawing production programme and managing information release to the site team.

Yes. Structural alterations during refurbishment — opening formation, strengthening, underpinning, extension — require careful coordination between structural design and construction methodology. We provide the construction coordination and temporary works interface that keeps the structural design connected to how the work is actually executed.

Structural elements are typically one of the primary discipline models in a federated BIM environment. Our structural elements support connects directly to our 3D modelling and BIM service — we can manage the structural model, coordinate it with architectural and MEP models and maintain it through construction as the design develops.
