Early-stage engineering feasibility that gives developers and contractors a clear technical picture before significant cost is committed. We identify constraints, establish options and produce a consolidated view of what is technically achievable.

Study Types

Know before you commit

The purpose of a feasibility study is to answer the critical technical questions before the cost of answering them on site. We produce focused, practical assessments — not lengthy documents that delay decisions.

Development Site Feasibility

Structural and civil engineering feasibility for potential development sites — establishing what can be built, what the constraints are and what the likely engineering cost envelope looks like before acquisition.

Brownfield Site Feasibility

Engineering feasibility for brownfield and previously developed sites. Ground condition assessment coordination, contamination risk, existing structure capacity and demolition requirements.

Structural Feasibility

Assessment of structural options for a proposed development or conversion — comparing steel frame, concrete frame and hybrid approaches for cost, programme and buildability.

Refurbishment Feasibility

Engineering feasibility for conversion and refurbishment schemes — existing structure capacity, floor loading, facade retention, MEP upgrade requirements and construction methodology.

Services Feasibility

Early-stage MEP feasibility for complex developments — plant room sizing, distribution routes, utility capacity and connection requirements assessed before design begins.

Construction Methodology Feasibility

Early-stage construction methodology assessment — access, cranage, logistics, programme and phasing options assessed to inform scheme design and planning strategy.

Common Questions

Feasibility studies explained

An engineering feasibility study assesses whether a proposed development or construction project is technically achievable within realistic cost and programme parameters. It is typically carried out at an early stage — before significant design cost is committed — to identify constraints, de-risk the project and inform go or no-go decisions.

As early as possible — ideally before acquisition on a development site, or before the design brief is finalised on a construction project. The purpose of a feasibility study is to identify constraints and options before cost is locked in. The later it is carried out, the less influence it can have on the project outcome.

A brownfield site feasibility study typically covers existing ground conditions and contamination risk, existing structure capacity and demolition requirements, services infrastructure and utility connection capacity, planning constraints arising from the existing use, construction access and logistics, and an engineering cost envelope for the proposed development.

Yes. Where it is useful to test massing options, visualise construction sequencing or present the scheme to a planning authority or funder, we can incorporate 3D modelling within the feasibility work. This is particularly useful for complex refurbishment and conversion projects where understanding the three-dimensional relationship between existing and proposed elements is important.

Yes. A full site feasibility will typically require inputs from geotechnical engineers, contamination specialists, utilities consultants and planning advisors alongside the structural and civil engineering assessment. We coordinate the full feasibility programme, manage specialist inputs and produce the consolidated report that brings findings together into a clear picture for the client.

Not sure if the site stacks up?

We carry out focused engineering feasibility that gives you a clear technical and commercial picture before you commit to design or acquisition costs.
