Management
RFI Management · Information Release · Design Coordination · MIDS
Contractor-side design management that keeps information flowing, designers coordinated and design aligned to the construction programme — so the project team can build without waiting.
Design without the information gap
Information Release Scheduling
Master Information Delivery Schedule preparation and management. Coordinating when information is required, from whom, in what format and at what level of detail — connected to the construction programme.
RFI Management
Request for Information management from issue through response to close-out. Tracking, chasing, escalating and recording design queries to prevent information gaps from stalling construction.
Design Team Coordination
Managing the design team as a contractor-side resource — coordinating architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers and specialist designers around the construction programme.
Design Review
Reviewing design submissions against the Employer's Requirements, specification and contractor buildability requirements before issuing acceptance or raising design comments.
Clash Coordination
Identifying and resolving design clashes between disciplines before they reach site — coordinating design team responses and tracking resolution to close-out.
Handover Documentation
Coordinating the O&M manual, as-built drawings, BIM model handover and Health and Safety File in the format required by the client or Employer's Requirements.

Design management explained
On design-and-build and contractor-designed projects, the contractor carries design responsibility but often lacks dedicated resource to manage the design process. Contractor-side design management provides that resource — coordinating the design team, managing information release, tracking RFIs and ensuring design keeps pace with the construction programme.
The Master Information Delivery Schedule (MIDS) sets out all the information that needs to be produced on a project — who produces it, in what format, to what level and by when. It is tied to the construction programme so that information arrives at site when it is needed. Without a MIDS, projects often stall waiting for design information that was not planned and sequenced correctly.
We manage the RFI process end-to-end — logging incoming design queries, directing them to the correct design team member, tracking response timescales, chasing overdue responses, reviewing answers before issuing to the site team and closing out resolved queries. We maintain the RFI register as a live document and report on outstanding items to the project manager and client as required.
Yes. The Principal Designer role under CDM 2015 is distinct from the design management function. A Principal Designer manages pre-construction health and safety coordination. The contractor-side design manager coordinates information and design team interfaces in the context of construction delivery. Both roles are required and they interface but do not duplicate each other.
Yes. As-built drawings, O&M manuals, BIM model handover and the Health and Safety File all require coordination, chasing and review before they can be handed to the client. We manage the handover documentation programme, coordinate specialist inputs and review packages before submission — so completion is not delayed by missing or incomplete information.
