Common questions
When do I need a Principal Designer?
For any project with more than one contractor, you must appoint a PD in writing before the construction phase. This applies regardless of project size.
Can domestic clients avoid CDM duties?
Domestic client duties automatically pass to the contractor or PD. However, if you're a developer, landlord, or organisation, you're likely a commercial Client with direct duties.
What happens if we don't comply?
HSE can issue improvement/prohibition notices, prosecute individuals and organisations, and personal liability applies to directors and senior managers.
Do you provide emergency PD cover?
Yes. We regularly step in mid-project when PDs leave or prove inadequate. We can mobilise quickly to restore compliance and continuity.
